Mobile guide in development

St. Augustine History Project

A visitor-friendly mobile guide to America's oldest continuously inhabited European settlement, built around historical periods, walking routes, site notes, images, and practical context for exploring St. Augustine, Florida.

History you can use while standing in the place where it happened.

The St. Augustine History Project is being created as an independent educational and photography-based guide for visitors, students, families, and local history learners.

Historical Periods

Explore St. Augustine through major eras, including Spanish, British, Territorial, Statehood, Flagler-era, and Civil Rights history.

Walking Guides

Follow stop-by-stop routes through the historic district with visitor notes, walking directions, and site interpretation.

Site Notes

Learn what to notice at each stop, why it matters, and how individual places connect to the larger story of St. Augustine.

Questions, corrections, accessibility notes, and technical support.

If you notice a typo, broken link, incorrect location, accessibility concern, or historical issue, please include the screen name, walking stop, or historical topic in your message.

Built with historical care, clear sourcing, and original photography as the goal.

The project is being organized so each topic can include image credits, source notes, research comments, and future corrections in a consistent format.

  • Long-term image goal: original photography credited to David Futch Photography.
  • Temporary placeholder images should be replaced before public release unless they are properly licensed for app and website use.
  • Research notes should identify the title, organization or author, URL or publication details, access date when relevant, and the app section where the source was used.
  • Historical claims should be revised when better evidence, clearer language, or visitor feedback improves the interpretation.

Privacy Policy for St. Augustine History Project

Effective date: July 8, 2026. This policy describes the planned privacy approach for the St. Augustine History Project mobile app and website.

Overview

The St. Augustine History Project is designed as an educational and walking-guide app for visitors interested in the history of St. Augustine, Florida.

Information We Collect

The current planned version of the app does not require users to create an account and does not collect names, passwords, user profiles, or public user-generated content.

If you contact support by email, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, message, and details about the app or a location.

Camera And Photos

If a future share feature is enabled, the app may ask for permission to use the device camera or photo library so you can take or select a photo and share it using your device's native sharing tools.

Photos are not uploaded to St. Augustine History Project servers unless a future feature clearly asks for that permission and this policy is updated.

Location And Maps

The app may include walking directions and buttons that open Apple Maps or Google Maps. Map links may use stop coordinates so your device can provide directions.

The St. Augustine History Project does not operate Apple Maps or Google Maps. Those services are provided by their respective companies and are governed by their own privacy policies. The app does not require continuous background location tracking.

Analytics

The current planned version of the app does not use third-party analytics. If analytics are added later, this policy should be updated to identify the provider and describe what information is collected.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information except as needed to respond to support requests, comply with legal obligations, or operate services intentionally used by the app.

Children

The app is intended for general educational use and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Retention

Support emails may be retained as needed to respond to questions, fix issues, and maintain app records.

Changes To This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated as app features change. The effective date will be updated when changes are made.
